Please don’t ask me.
There is a reason that voting is private.
I choose to refrain from engaging in this debate that pits loved ones against one another.
Husbands against Wives
Brothers against Sisters
Parents against Children
Silly me, I thought this was America, where I am free to think for myself, and vote my conscience, but this political circus leads me to a place of fear.
I fear if I don’t think like you and vote like you then you will typecast me as “other,” and my value will diminish in your eyes.
Your angry rhetoric causes me to retreat and keep silent.
We can all enumerate the problems in our country, for that is a list without end.
It is in the solutions that we differ.
Perhaps if you were a little less angry and fearful, perhaps we might have some meaningful discourse and find some common ground.
This divisiveness serves no one. It hurts feelings and limits options.
I choose to step back and keep quiet in an effort to keep from being bludgeoned by the narrow minded who are more concerned with winning than they are with creating real solutions.
Do not cast me as your enemy.
For I am just like you, another human being, a citizen of this country, seeking to live in love and peace.
